The items in this section provide for fail safe fixing combined with vibration isolation. They avoid the common error of simply passing a bolt through rubber matting which typically results in the transfer of vibration through the bolt. These solutions separate the through bolt from the items being isolated.
The 2 part isolation bush is available in a range of different rubber materials. The standard items are in natural rubber with a Sherardized steel inner tube. However, these are also available in 316 stainless steel and with 316 stainless steel rebound washers to suit.
Installation hole is 20mm diameter and these are to suit an M10 through bolt and are designed to clamp around a 10mm thick plate which can be either the isolated item or the base surface
Using 32mm diameter washers on both sides provides for a fail-safe mounting.
This isolation bush (sometimes referred to as a T-Bush) is intended for an M10 through bolt through an installation diameter of 20mm.
These are intended to grip an isolated member of 6mm thickness although thinner elements can be accommodated using nylon spacer washers as shown in the installation picture below. In this picture the red plate represents the isolated feature.
The internal steel tube is Sherardized for corrosion protection and serves to prevent excessive compression of the rubber when tightened to normal bolt torques.
On assembly the extended 20mm diameter feature deforms to provide isolation of the washer
The standard material for this mount is 60ShA natural rubber, but alternatives can also be provided including Nitrile, Neoprene rubber materials and 316 stainless steel inner tubes.
This assembly provides for the isolation of bolted structures such as building steelwork made from rolled steel sections or parallel flange channel. This element is used in conjunction with the BPD mat material to provide a high degree of isolation and to eliminate a metallic path for the transmission of vibration.
The isolator is in 3 parts where the central rubber covered metal tube is to a length dependant upon the thickness of the ‘sandwich’ - less 3mm, allowing for compression of the rubber elements. The end caps have an embedded steel washer 3mm thick which, on assembly, is in contact with the steel inner tube. This allows the bolts to be tightened to normal torques.
If ordered with BPD matting, the mat can be cut to size (from standard 210 x 210mm standard size and holes can be pre-cut to dimensions provided.
The length of the inner element is made to order to provide the required rubber element compression. Typically total thickness of the ‘sandwich’ would be between 15 and 65mm
This type of mount can also be used where items are to be bolted to, but isolated from a floor for example.
These mounts can also be used to secure steelwork to walls providing vibration isolation at the same time
