Bobbin Mounts and Variants

A very wide range of standard bobbin style mounts are available many from stock or on short delivery.   In addition we are able to manufacture special versions to any dimension, with any thread combinations, any metallic material and from a wide range of natural and synthetic rubber materials.

These mounts are used in compression, shear or a combination of compression and shear.  The latter combination provides an optimum for stability and isolation efficiency.  These mounts are not intended for use in tension but with the use of suitable brackets suspended loads can be mounted from bobbins which are loaded in compression.

Cylindrical and wasted designs are included in the range together with some high deflection hollow mounts.

Special Bobbin Mount Styles

The Vibrostop Conic, Vibrostop Conic Marine (CMM) and RLF mounts are designed for increased deflection (and hence improved isolation in some applications).  Separate sections for these and the Vibrostop Metalflex range can be accessed via the pictures above.

Materials

Rubber:          The majority of items are available in a single natural rubber hardness for each model, but many are also available in a wide range of grades of natural rubber (polyisoprene) from 35 up to 90ShA hardness or in  polychloroprene (Neoprene™) and other synthetic rubber-like materials.

Metal:             All metal parts are either Zinc plated or Sherardized.  Both of these finishes are Rohs Compliant.   On request at time of order, nuts & lock washers are available for all items.

Typical Applications

Fans, motors, compressors, pumps, electrical equipment, mountings for water or oil coolers, vibratory machines (Sieves, shaker tables, feeders etc.)

Installation

Bobbin mounts are the simplest of all AV mounts to fit in most situations.  The only restriction is that they should never be installed such that the mounting is in tension.  Although in the short term this may seem secure, the chemical bonding method is not suited to this type of loading and will fail prematurely due to stress at the bond interface.

If a suspended isolation system is required, this can often be achieved using simple brackets.
