Torsion Bushes
Bushes can come in a variety of shapes and sizes. The simplest is our SAB Bush which has a metal inner tube and a rubber outer bonded and vulcanised to it. There are then the variety of Torsion Bushes which consist of a steel inner tube inside, a rubber layer and then a steel outer tube. The rubber is then bonded during moulding/vulcanising to the inner tube or to both the inner and outer tubes. These Bushes also come in different styles. For example:BB type, alternatively referred to as a fully bonded bush where the rubber is chemically bonded to both inner and outer tubes.B type bush which has the outer sleeve pushed over the SAB type. The outer tube in this case is held in place by creating a significant interference fit during assembly of the bush. Such bushes are not intended to slide within the outer sleeve but can allow for occasional extreme torsional overloading of the bush. These are also referred to as single bonded bushesBP Bush which is a fully bonded bush with the ends of the bush ‘swaged’ over.TB Bush which is a triple bonded bush comprising 3 tubes all chemically bonded to the rubber material. Rubber torsion bushes can be either single double bonded or triple bonded (i.e. the rubber is chemically bonded to both metal surfaces during the curing (vulcanising) of the rubber. In some cases the outer surface isOther related bushes such as our plain rubber bushings, our 2-Part Bush and our ‘T’ Bush are available which can have a variety of applications. Please see above pictorial examples and click on an image above for further information. The Steering Column bush consists of a two part bush which is bonded together and has an acetal resin liner inserted to enable a smooth but firm rotation for a wide range of steering column applications when 19mm or 22mm steering column shafts are used. ApplicationsThe major benefit of this product range is that small movements can be accommodated without any sliding motion (and hence without wear). The rubber layer can also prevent the transmission of vibration and shocks between linked components,These products have a wide range of applications from Agricultural (potato machinery, sugar beet, picking, sorting machinery), Shock Absorbers, Vehicles (military, sports cars, vintage or classic cars) Sports Cars. Vintage Cars, Wind turbines for power generation and many more.
